Wilson’s translation is very clean, though she is sometimes blinded by her hatred for Odysseus (me too girl) to the extent that she waters down the evil of his opponents in order to make him look worse.

Not too bad of a read. Wanted to read the source material for some much referential content so feel like I better understand.

I really enjoyed Emily Wilson’s translation! I appreciate the style in which she crafted it, I thought that the writing had a really natural flow to it that I find a lot of classical translations can lack. That Odysseus sure knows how to get himself into some shenanigans!!

This was my first greek epic I've ever read. Lately, I've taken a liking to greek mythology thanks to a more recent novel called "Circe"; because of it I wanted to discover more about Odysseus' tale. At first it was a bit difficult to follow along the story, since a lot of phrases were repeated, but eventually I got used to how the plot was laid out. At times I thought it a bit humorous how dramatic the characters were. The men would weep all the time. However, I later realized how emotional certain scenes were. I enjoyed this classic very much indeed. Next I'll read Homer's "The Iliad".
