A childlike explanation on depression but got the point across well.
I wish I had read this when I was younger :(

An easy read at one level, and at others quite a challenge. Soft blacks and greys illustrate the relationship between the narrator and her depression and destructive thoughts, shown as a dragon. Read in five minutes, and not unlike the black dog imagery (e.g. http://www.sane.org.uk/what_we_do/black_dog/), this is raw, tender stuff, and reduced me to tears.

I love the message of this book so much, and it would help students who are dealing with depression, but can't put it in my library due to one of the illustrations depicting the girl in the shower and the fog of the depression doesn't cover her chest. So bummed by that.

A beautiful and for me accurate description of living with depression.
It is just how I felt it was in my teens the black dog metaphor never worked for me but these dragons blowing their foggy sadness? that is just how it felt.
Stunning 32 pages.

I’m dumb because I didn’t even realize this was a children’s picture book. Cute art, though.

Although I have never suffered from depression this severe, the author definitely made me feel her emotions and thoughts through her illustrations. My husband, who has had bigger dealings with depression than I have, admitted that the illustrations and story felt real and true.
