Very interesting read
The prequel to Almost Damned, Almost Mortal is a highly addictive legal thriller with supernatural elements. The protagonist Sam Young is exceptionally well written. His disposition towards himself and to life, in general, makes him highly relatable. Putting aside his psychic prowess, Sam certainly knows how to use the law to gain the desired outcome. Now combined with his abilities, it has propelled Sam into another dimension. It has been fascinating to read the book as Sam navigates through both mortal and almost mortal realms. The narration is marvellous and immersive. The incorporation of robust side characters makes the plot strong. The author clearly has a knack for thriller settings, and given his legal background, the legal elements of the story were most interesting to read. He has drawn on his experience to give the readers a unique and thrilling experience. Even without the metaphysical facets, I would still read about Sam's exploits. I recommend it to all who enjoy a faced paced thriller with a twist. My rating is five stars.

A legal thriller I had so much fun reading. It was unforeseeable and clever and full of twists. Also, I found the protagonist as thrilling as the plot.
Sam Young is an emerging criminal defense attorney who have a gift or curse that he thinks are minor psychic abilities. When Sam is hired by an attractive young nun named Camille Paradisi, he agrees to help discover the identity of a serial killer in order to prevent Camille’s pastor from being exposed for not reporting the man after a confession – thereby allowing another murder to occur.
While investigating the case, Sam's psychic abilities improve and many truths are revealed.
My curiosity was piqued from the first chapter. I was intrigued but only if the book was a bit short. It gets boring in the middle ( which sadly sucks most of the joy out of thrillers).
Otherwise it was a perfect book with mysterious vibes. The narration was flowing smoothy and I really liked the author's writing style.

The prologue of this book sets up the story well – it is eerie and mysterious, and I was desperate to read on! I flew through the story as it is incredibly fast-paced. You can feel the pressure and the buzz of a defence attorney’s job and I loved the procedural aspects of the book. Sam as a character is a study in contrasts, he often lies and gambles, yet he clearly has empathy and wants to help people. It is difficult to know which characters to trust and who is trying to control the narrative. I also loved the addition of Sam’s psychic abilities! They are subtly done and feel like a natural addition to the story. Thank you to @sabrina_dax_pr and @chrisleibig for my copy in exchange for an honest review!

“Almost Mortal” by Christopher Leibig is a legal thriller.
The story revolves around Sam Young a dynamic, and charming upcoming district attorney with supernatural abilities. One day Camille Paradisi a young nun approaches him and, he caught up with an investigation of a serial killer. She also shares some journal entries to him which sets in 1940’s Argentina. There are some unusual entries like the person who penned down the journal he claimed to be a descendent of fallen angels. Did this journal belong to Killer? There are many questions that will be answered just by reading this interesting thriller.
The author very cleverly crafts the Character of Sam, as I meet the diverse and interesting characters on his journey to solve the case. The detailed and skillful written plot shows the personal experience as an attorney of the author.
Overall, this contemporary legal thriller with magical realism makes me read more of the author’s work.

I really enjoyed this book! Just a little different then your normal thriller!
First book in a series so it was a good intro to our man guy Sam. He is a defense attorney who has a bit of supernatural ability, which is just touched upon in this debut novel. It was fast paced and if I had one tiny gripe it would have been keeping track of all his clients and how and why some of them were connected.
But over all it was well written and I am looking forward to the next one!

Really enjoyed this! A very detailed criminal investigation into a serial killer case with a hint of paranormal/other-worldly happenings.

A complex legal thriller with a dash of historical fiction and a hint of the supernatural. I was intrigued by the premise of a serial killer on the loose and a priest who might have heard the killer's confession. All this is dropped into the hands of defense lawyer Sam Young - a wily, smart man who juggles a bunch of cases and connections with ease. I really liked Sam and I thought he was an appealing main character.
Unfortunately, the story itself is too convoluted for my taste. A large part of the book consists of letters from a mysterious writer describing their life experiences and they come across as more factual than entertaining. Sam has a roster of clients that appear in the book and it was hard to keep track of who they are and what their relationships are with one another. The serial killer plot comes down to the nitty-gritty of science and DNA which frankly lost my attention. I think the book tries to do a lot but isn't successful in handling all its story threads. The ending leaves plenty of questions to continue to the next book and I'm hoping it will be more exciting!

The Rosslyn Ripper case has landed in Sam's lap. Having killed three women in three months, the serial killer is still on the loose in Bennett county, Virginia.
Deputy Public Defender Sam Young has expertise in solving crime because he has a gift. A gift of the ability to know the invention of people and also he can make people do his bidding.
A man came to Father Andrada's confession claiming to be the Rosslyn Ripper, just before killing his third victim, which puts Andrada in a tight spot legally. As it wasn't enough, a strange diary has shown up written by someone decades ago who could have a connection to the murderer, and the author of this diary shares the same psychic abilities as Sam.
I was really hooked to this from the start because it was a smartly plotted high-octane suspense, and complex characters, although it was a little slow-pace in the middle for me but the rest was quick-pace. The author's writing style is impressive and can make the reader completely lose themselves in the story.
if you like mystery and thrillers I'd 100% recommend this.

"Suspenseful and fast paced legal thriller"
This was such an interesting read! I'm not a person who reads legal thrillers usually but when I read the blurb of this book I had to give it a shot, and I must say I was not disappointed. The pacing was fast at the beginning and the end but the middle got a bit slow, although the ending was worth it. Do give it a shot if you want to read a unique thriller with some courtroom drama.
Sam Young is an emerging criminal defense attorney and he has psychic abilities, which proves to be a gift but also becomes a curse sometimes. Sam is hired by an attractive young nun named Camille Paridisi who claims that she works for Father Andrada who knew Sam's mother. The pastor claims that the infamous serial killer "Rossyln Ripper" whom the police are on a lookout for has confessed about his crimes to the pastor. Sam agrees to discover the identity of the serial killer before they commit another murder.
Camille gives Sam an old journal which was mailed to the church which they suspect to be written by the confessor.
As Sam starts investigating he realizes that Camille might not be revealing the complete truth and that the Rossyln Ripper case might not be a normal case at all. Read the book to know more.. I can't wait to read the sequel!
