Ghere's Inferno is a nice blend of police procedural and dark urban fantasy. Unlike most UF novels I've read, the author doesn't use the same tropes usually found in this genre, which I find refreshing. The plot is fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and I hope we get to see them in future stories.

This is Cooley's best thriller yet, full of tension, dread, evil and FIRE. So much fire. But what really makes it stand out is the novel's protagonist, Emy, an arson investigator with a heartbreaking past and the scars to prove it, who is Cooley's most well-rounded and sympathetic hero or heroine to date. Circumstances pit her against a firebug of seemingly supernatural talent, ferocity and specificty. Adding to the near-pathos is the presence of a canine companion modeled after Cooley's own dog, who herself becomes a character as vividly realized as the human villains and heroes. Great stuff!
