So much to say about this book!!!
I loved loved reading this book, and this book was my favorite to read in English the year I read it. It was easy for me to follow despite a lot happening in the chapters. At times I did not find Scout to be all that likable but I really liked her character development. And seeing Jem’s character development was tragic but made sense due to his empathetic nature.
I really enjoyed the antiracist themes of it as it not only relates to the books own setting, and the time the book was written but even our own time today as police brutality and other racist systems still exist in America today.
I think my favorite characters in this book either have to be Atticus, Boo Radley, or Miss Maudie.
With Atticus I find him to be a great role model for the kids showing how a caring human being should act as he teaches scout the idea of “walking in another person’s shoes”. And is a great role model by staying true to his own values to not only infront of his kids but to an entire court. And he breaks many societal norms by being a single dad raising his kids.
I loved Miss Maudie as she is a generally caring individual for Scout and the other kids. And seeing the entire community come together when her house was on fire is a testament to how kind of a person she is. Also Scout looks up to her and Maudie herself breaks many codes regarding gender as she tends to wear “men’s clothes” as it’s more convenient for when she upkeeps her flower garden. And Scout sees this and wears similar clothing and views Miss Maudie as a comforting character.
Boo Radley is such an interesting character, he is a mysterious character because he is shut-in himself.
I really liked his heroism especially when he saves the children at the end of the story from Bob Ewell
I found him to be a generally wholesome character!
Overall a great book would recommend to anyone interested in social issues to read it!!

For some reason my English teachers never had us read this in high school. I was always curious to know why this was such a class and who the heck was Boo Radley. Some classics can be tough to get through because their slow or hard to relate to present society. This book gives insight to what the south was like during the Depression Era.

I really enjoyed this! I’ve watched the movie a few times, but never read the book. It’s honestly pretty similar. I really enjoyed scout as a narrator. This is obviously a serious book that handles some serious topics, but it feels cozy. If you haven’t read this yet I do recommend it. It’s an easy read as well for a classic.

I didn’t think I’d like this book and I have never wanted to read it, but I found a copy in a holiday home we were staying in and thought I’d read a couple of pages to see what it was like….well I got hooked!
I really enjoyed it, I loved Scout and Jem, hearing their thoughts as they try to make sense of the world around them & the fickle decisions of adults. I loved the wisdom of Atticus and how he explained the world to his children.
A thoroughly enjoyable classic.

I read this book as a class assignment, and all I have to say is f--k this "classic piece of literature" it's a racist and bigoted story written by a racist white woman. It's hardly a classic and despite "teaching prejudice" and "learning about racism" it is terrible for modern-day learning and there are so many better stories you could force students to read. Modern stories, written by people who actually understand bigotry and what it's like to be discriminated against for something like skin color and racial background. I overall despise this book.

I assumed that this book was going to be very sad so I avoided it. It does deal with a tragic destiny of an innocent man but that sort of falls behind. I really liked some of the characters, the setting was interesting, the subject discussed very important. I wanted to read more about how the family and the whole community developed
