I find it fascinating how the place a person lives shapes them into who they are in many ways. Marie grew up in Poland and with all the politics that was going on at that time and the suppression of the polish nation, it's so interesting that in some ways, that is what pushed Marie to go to France and there she did her famous work on Radioactive materials. Without that political unrest, this would have been a different story. Interesting.

Marie was a science minded individual and she loved her science and math. She was the first woman to win a Noble Prize and she was the first woman to teach at the Sorbonne. She was also the first person to win a 2nd Noble Prize. She was quite a mind.

I had a hard time reading this knowing that her studies were slowly poisoning her. I know what was going on and it's hard not to want to shout back through history that she is in danger. It's amazing she was able to have children at all. She helped to change the world. Not many people can really say that.

It's a nice account of her life. It glosses over things as it has to to fit all the info in. She was an amazing woman and I'm glad I know more about her.
