oxnard_montalvo's review against another edition
For fans of House of Leaves and gothic detective mysteries. Enjoyed the snaking tale, but I remember feeling like not all the elements worked. Been a long time since I read it though; I'll try to revisit it this year (2022).

this is not a book. it's an experience.
i'll admit it was a little bit hard to read, given how many ways you can go about it. i ended up just reading it. cover to cover with the annotations and slips where they were placed.
i fell in love with the characters of the book itself and the annotators. very good commentary on the fear of the unknown.
im not a puzzle person so i just let the characters decipher the codes for me, but i could see major appeal for anyone big on that kind of thing.
was a behemoth of a book, took me AGES because of the annotations i think, and forgetting which author was who. but all in all i really enjoyed it. def good conversation piece

I just found it poorly written and boring. I loved the concept but just couldn't get into it.

Wow, what to say... First I read the book by Straka, going back to read the margins and I wound up rereading a lot of the book. I love the experience of reading the two stories and all the extras in the book. Furthermore I love all the internet activity on www.radiostraka.com (podcasts), whoisstraka.wordpress.com and www.eotvoswheel.com. It makes for a reading experience like no other. I greatly recommend this book, mostly to experienced readers but also to people who don't shun new ways to incorporate different media and are up to the challenge.
