It's a bit hard to move past the, you know, pedophilia and incest in the first chapter. And the, uh, repeated rape and what have you that happen further on.
I also began skimming the book towards the end. This isn't something that should be read in one sitting (as I tend to do), but perhaps flicked through whilst reading another book or two. This much porn/erotica in one go is a bit much for me, I admit.
So why three stars? Because it's Anaïs Nin. That's it. She wrote better smut in the 40s than many modern authors. There's a touch of flowery language here and there, but it's still raw and frank without much frou-frou. Some authors could definitely learn a thing or two from her.

Siempre había querido leer a Anaïs Nin y no sé si este fue el mejor libro para empezar. Son relatos eróticos supuestamente, aunque como ella misma escribe, tuvo que centrarse en el sexo más que en la poesía (los escribió por encargo). Algunos de erótica no tienen nada, sino que son sobre pedofilia, abuso y violación. Las tramas claramente no eran lo central, sino que las escenas sexuales y eso hizo que no me interesaran tanto. En los cuentos cortos no era tan molesto, pero había cuentos larguísimos que no iban a ninguna parte. Igual jevy que lo haya escrito en los años cuarenta, en el prólogo dice: "Al fin decidí autorizar la publicación de mis relatos eróticos porque muestran los esfuerzos iniciales de una mujer en un mundo que había sido dominio exclusivo de los hombres".

Avevo già letto una selezione curata di alcuni racconti tratti da questa raccolta e ammetto che al tempo non li avevo trovati né interessanti, né rivoluzionari. Rilegger il libro in italiano invece mi ha molto colpito e ammetto che ho apprezzato molte delle storie più brevi, mentre invece a tratti in quelle più lunghe mi sono annoiata, anche per la costante insistenza sulla dimensione sessuale. Inoltre capisco la forma del racconto, ma in alcuni casi il termine di certe storie è stato veramente senza senso e molto brusco.

the preface was quite interesting and promising but i stopped at page 4 where there was a very explicit scene involving 10&12 year olds?? no way i'm going through with this bye
