I can appreciate the unapologetic vulnerability and at times harsh detail, but I had a hard time connecting. At the same time, I respect the importance of reading perspectives and experiences different than my own. Interesting writing style, not my favorite book but a good read.

As a young person navigating through a world filled with social injustices myself, I felt a sisterly bond with the main character. She has a lot to say, she wants to be heard and remembered. But she has surrendered to her unstable life so engrossingly that she doesn't want to talk about herself. The narration is so cold and distant that I felt exhausted reading minute details of objects and situations. I wish the book focused not only on the surroundings but also on her humanity.

Good depiction of what it is like to be a black body in the US. The desolation and the feeling of being lost is on point. I liked this book.
