Tye Quiche of Death is an intriguing story about Agatha Raisin, who is rude and insecure, she is not particularly likable until you get to know her and she tends to spout off whatever enters her mind. Agatha just moved in a village from london and she wanted her neighbors to like her so she enter a Quiche baking contest but she didn't know how to bake so she bought it from a store. The problem is it killed a judge and she was accused then she started to investigate.

Loved how the characters were introduced. Agatha might not be my fave cozy character but she seems true to herself. Good storyline and chill setting.

Entertaining, cozy mystery about a rather prickly woman who retires to the Cotswolds but finds the adjustment challenging, especially when she's accused of involvement in a murder. She's a character that is in some ways quite unlikable, but you root for her anyway. The audiobook version is really well done.

This is the second time I've read this and I enjoyed it just as much, if not more than the first occasion. Agatha Raisin is a self-absorbed, socially inept, powerhouse of a woman who rides roughshod over those too weak to stand up to her. She also has a gold heart and, underneath it all, just wants to be liked. She's the Hyacinth Bucket ("it's pronounced boo-kay") of the amateur sleuthing world and I couldn't help but love her.

The book is incredibly entertaining, containing some quirky characters that I swear are based on people I've met in my own life. There is also a lot of world-building, scene setting and character introduction that did result in the murder mystery part of the story moving somewhat slowly. However, there were so many other things happening that I didn't mind.

I loved the author's voice, there is underlying, observational humour that just felt so terribly British and reading it felt like coming home. I just have to wait until my local library has book #2 available to borrow before I can indulge myself further.

I enjoyed this light mystery--one my preferred types of "fluff reading." This is the first book in Beaton's Agatha Raisin series. I am sure I will visit with her again.

Se lee fácil pero no me ha apasionado. Me ha costado entrar en la historia (y al libro también) y se resuelve todo en 3 páginas.

No sé si me leeré más de esta saga.

read for: distraction

absolutely brilliant writing flow and grasp on character and world is exceptional for a cozy but OH MY GOD the absurd racism, homophobia, ableism, ageism and a touch of transphobia it was too much. idec if it was supposed to be tongue in cheek or satire it was just not pour moi.

A fun audiobook to listen to over the last couple of weeks. I love Agatha Raisin and I'm excited to read more of her amateur detective adventures!

The mystery served middle grade but the appeal of the setting (small english village) and the quirky characters is super strong to me.
