The level of sarcasm that Leon possesses, is the level I aspire to be at everyday

And the award for the most overhyped book of the year goes tooooo…..

The first half of the book had me in it´s grip, but then it lost me. The plot was interesting and unlike anything I´ve read, but it felt underdeveloped and overshadowed by the romantic sub-plot (which also felt rushed and forced). I found the smutty scenes quite unrealistic (lol), and hard to follow. I had to stop multiple times to try to figure out what was going on.

I did not feel any connection with the main characters at all. Rae felt like a cardboard box, who did not have a personality, besides not caring about her own safety. The number of times I rolled my eyes enough to get a headache because of all the times she headed headfirst into something that could get her killed (only for her to be shocked by the potential danger). When she went to the Hadleigh´s party and WILLINGY took a drink from Jeremiah, AND DRANK IT, I almost DNFd the book. Honestly, in the end I did not care about whether she would make it or not.
Leon could have been an interesting character, but he needed a more developed backstory to get any form of sympathy from me. Honestly, the only character I liked was Cheesecake.

The ending felt too rushed, and it felt like it could have been more developed (or some of the stuff that happened could have been written out), and then, suddenly, it was just…over?

Character
9.5 – I’ll think about these characters often. Amazing well-written characters and villians. They all had layers to them I wanted to explore. Loved the FMC for the most part.

Atmosphere
9 – I want to read more books in this setting. The setting was cool, standard spooky town with lots of legends. I am excited to read the other 2 and see their events.

Writing
9.5 – Excellent, the spicy parts were the best I ever read, and I got chills when the main character got chills. Amazing.

Plot
9 – Very unique and good. One part of the story could have rendered this all moot but still amazing plot, very horror movie cliché.

Intrigue
10 – Read into the night. I chewed through this book, and I couldn't put it down. I was hooked from the first chapter.

Logic
8 – I totally understand this world. I want to know more about other demons and other creatures.

Enjoyment
10 – I need to read it again. I loved it. I can't wait to read the other 2, and I'm getting the hard cover for this collection.
