3.5 stars — *sigh* These books are super fast to gobble up, and I do enjoy that in some ways. But it does mean that, again, not a lot of time is given to certain plot points to really expand on the emotional impact. In this case it was Knox’s father, and Reese’s healing.

Knox was pretty steady. I thought he was sweet, and while it was odd that he was so anti-relationship and then was gung-ho relationship, I kind of just accepted it and moved on. I appreciated how much he cared for his friends, that he was close to his family, and that he truly admired all the ambitions of Reese.

I wish that if we were going to skip ahead 14 months, we would have gotten just a wee bit more in flashbacks or something explaining how Reese was doing, how she was healing, etc. It was kind of hand wavy. I enjoyed her in general, but I didn’t fall in love. I think it’s because I could only accept her fear of relationships so far before it was just kind of ridiculous.

The two of them together were actually both sweet and hot. I liked seeing them get to know each other in Kauai, and the sort of courting Knox did upon second meeting. And the few steamy scenes we got were…well, steamy. But I will admit that the time jump in their non-relationship relationship threw me off. I can’t believe we got cut short on those first moments of a couple. Basically, I was bummed.

The Blaze guys were pretty awesome, as always. The new owner was interesting. I feel like he was completely unrealistic in some senses, and that he was mostly used to magically solve some problems. *shrugs*

So yeah. It was okay. I enjoyed certain aspects, but it was a bit more shallow than even the previous ones. I think I’ll take a break from this series. I just find that I keep wanting more, and I have no doubt that will continue to happen.

2.5 stars: Ehh, this was fine. Neither character really held my attention, but there was nothing particularly bad about this
