I love the story line and the plot twists. I wanted to read more and more so that I could find out what happened which resulting made me finish the whole book in 2 days. Whilst reading the first parts of the book, I thought, "this would make a good movie, I'd watch that movie" and then I changed my mind when I read further on because I realised that
John was killed and in a very gruesome way too. If I saw that in theaters I think I would feel pretty disturbed and sad about the loss
. The characters are so young. The kind of things that they are doing at that age seems unrealistic.

I loved everything about this book from the pacing to the characters to the plot. The only nitpicks I have are about gaps in world building and that emotional beats aren’t given the space to have lasting impact but I think that’s just the fast paced narrative. I can’t wait to read the next book(s).

4.75

Edit: chaning the rating from 4.25 to 4.75 because i remember the plot like 3 years later
It’s a good dystopian. It took me a while to get used to the mc’s though, but the development of their character is worth every page. This book has a good picture of a controlling government and corruption, rebelión and morals. Well-written with unique writing style. It is a little dark, but somehow inspires hope in you. The book tells rather than shows, but this detail adds to it’s charm. honestly all the questions are so clever and intriguing. Also my head canon is that the MCs are soulmates and you can’t convince me otherwise.

I enjoyed this book, and while I think that certain parts could have been more developed or elaborated on, it worked well. I would have liked a little more world building, and a little more relationship development, but that is my personal preference.
