easily one of my favourite memoirs i’ve ever read! i really loved the way it was structured around the stories of prophets and their thematic connections to the writer’s life instead of linearly. the prose was beautiful and moving but still simple and clear! if i had to point to a weakness i’d say maybe it sometimes gets close to overexplaining itself - it almost sells itself short in moments when it spells things out too straightforwardly because the writing is already so effective!

A raw exploration into religious, queer life. A truly beautiful debut novel.

Beautiful memoir. I love how the author shared stories from the Quran to relate and reflect on her life experiences. The interpretations and metaphors were beautiful and the structure of the book was so enjoyable to consume. Her story is deeply meaningful, inspiring, and raw. I appreciate her vulnerability and honesty in her writing. Brought tears to my eyes!
