“Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date” just warmed me up to romance novels FAST. I’ve never been a huge fan of romance as a genre but man is this book in particular changing my mind! This is well written, the characters believable and genuine, and so gosh darn sweet. I really love this one and found myself relating to the main characters, which I should’ve seen coming as a bisexual writer with a decade of theatre experience myself lol Ugh, what can I say?? Now I’m a Stevie + Iris shipper for life!

While I loved the anxiety rep and did still enjoy this one, it was my least favourite of the 3 surprisingly. It was still a good read! Just not my favourite in the series.
It was great having the friend groups as big parts of it!

I did enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed Delilah Green Doesn't Care and Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail so if you read & enjoyed the other Bright Falls books, I'd recommend checking this one out. The main reason it didn't get the 5 stars the other books got is that I felt the family elements Iris dealt with were not addressed in the end and as a reader, I was a little disappointed by that. Otherwise, I enjoyed reading about Iris & Stevie's relationship and I'm glad Stevie at least got a scene dealing with her friend's behaviour in the end. Just would have liked that for Iris and her family as well.

If you haven't read the Brightfalls series and you're thinking about it- Do it! They are the perfect balance of sugar and spice, full queer cast of ALL age ranges and I loved every book/audiobook.

Iris Kelly Doesn't date is book three and the last book in the series.
Everyone around Iris is in love. Coupled up, happily married with kids. She's happy for them however that's never the life she's envisioned for herself. She's perfectly find to stay single, only problem is she's a romance author with no romance in her life to inspire her. With a second deadline approaching she's stressed more than ever and goes looking what she knows will life her spirts, a one night stand.

Stevie is hopeless romantic who is heartbroken after breaking up with her long-term partner who is now dating a mutual best-friend. Tried of sulking she decides to go out and try something she's never done before , a one night stand.

One horrible meet-disaster and a few lies later Stevie and Iris agree to help each other but swapping what they know best.

Narrator Rating: 3 stars

A fake dating relationship between a woman with severe anxiety and another woman with minimal self-worth and commitment avoidance, somehow becomes something more?
I loved the first two books in this series, but boy this one.
Wow, this book was annoying! I don't know why Stevie didn't try to get on better medication! If you're freaking out that much, change your meds. I'm saying this as someone WITH GAD, and SAD.
I could relate to Stevie and Iris, but they just kept doing the absolute worst things they could do in many situations and I wanted to scream at them!
I don't think the narrator helped as she did the most annoying voice for Stevie and some of the other characters. Which just made the book more infuriating.
Overall, a huge letdown from the previous books.

 Extra ratings: Fluff - 3/5  Heartfelt- 4/5   Helpful-NA    Horror- 0/5    Inspiration- NA   Love aka Romance-4/5   Mystery-0/5    Predictability- 5/5    Spice- 3/5  Suspense- 0/5   Tear 1.5/5  Thrill- 0/5  Humor-2/5

I got to say, the author's clumsy attitude towards the portrayal of different queer experiences really improved. it's still clumsy, but in a way that you can see that the author took the criticisms to her heart. I love to see it. when I remember how in Delilah's book the word lesbian was never even uttered, and now we're playing around with it with the classic thespian - lesbian joke... lovely. the progress is there.
but not to make this only about the queer community aspect of this, even tho I have many more thoughts, it's just that, what would it be for, you know.
anyway. you can clearly see the author has been writing for a while. she's skilled in all the needed places - she will draw you in, get invested, get you to cry and laugh and make you horny. AND she'll make you think about your life choices? who'd have thunk?
overall, a solid pick of an American adult sapphic romance novel nevertheless. it is very much American, still very middle class, but it's doing its thing very well
