The fat phobia in the first few chapters was just too hard to tolerate.
Unexpected murder mystery. I had trouble keeping up with the characters initially but it blended together beautifully in the end. The sins of our father… An envious friend. Good drama book.

This book asked fascinating moral questions - what would you do if your husband of 20 years confessed to murdering someone as a teenager? Moriarty explored dissatisfactions in very normal relatable marriage - how we can love somebody and hurt them without meaning to. Some though was the result of stiff white culture. I demolished this book in three days. Didn't enjoy the Polly plot at the end.
I liked the intertwining stories of the three families, each dealing with its own issues. Guilt can just destroy, can’t it? Interesting epilogue, too.

Picked this up hoping it would be as awesome as Big Little Lies was. Not so much. The writing is great but I feel once the "secret" is let out, it's a pretty big disappointment and the rest of the book just falters from there.

Very intriguing and different book then what I normally read. Once the big secret of the letter was revealed, I couldn't put the book done. I was surprised that I got very invested in these characters lives and wanted to know how their story was going to end.
