-Thank you to the author for an eARC of this book. Receiving an ARC in no way influenced my review-

I cannot handle this series. It seriously just gets better and better. Eira has grown SO much as our lead character, and I love that we get to see so much of the other competitors this time around. Elise is a master at having her characters growth match the sequence of events in her books. Eira still makes mistakes, but she's learning and making new and better decisions the whole time.
This book finally focused on the competition and, to be honest, that was a little lackluster. I enjoyed the competition originally held in Solaris much more. However, I think this book was more about what was happening around the competition, and I could easily sympathize with Eira's frustrations about more important things every time we had to go back to the collesium.
The ending. OH MY GOD the ending. I legit didn't see it coming. I have read so many books and seen so many twist and turns, but I just didn't expect this one. I was practically vibrating with anticipation while reading the last 2 hours of the book, just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I think this series is the strongest series yet out of all of Elise's stories and I could not reccomend it more. I absolutely cannot wait for books.

A thrilling addition to the A TRIAL OF SORCERERS series, this book takes Eira on a journey of conspiracy and emotion as she and her friends enter a dangerous competition meant to establish peace throughout the world.

Eira spends much of the book torn between her feelings for Cullen, whose unexpected engagement put a damper in their relationship. If that, familial troubles, and her participation in the tournament were not enough, Eira must find a way to act as a spy to subvert the actions of the Pillars, all while finding herself in the orbit of another handsome spy. It’s a lot for any one person to take on, and while I think too much focus was put on Eira and Cullen’s relationship. I enjoyed it, though I was a lot more invested Eira and her friends’ spying adventures.

The plot moves quickly, thanks to the tournament and its events. There are plenty of characters who bring different challenges and it will be interesting to see their roles going forward.

As ever, the world building and magic is inventive, allowing Kova to craft an inventive, thrilling novel for readers to enjoy. The ending is explosive, and I can’t wait to see the next adventure Eira and her friends encounter!

What a ride! It was slow in the beginning and hard for me to get into the book to start off but once it got going, boy did it go! This book, like the others before it really made you feel, and not always what you wanted to! I’m so curious as to where this story leads and with that cliffhanger at the end! Man am I glad the next book was just recently released!

Eira is so frustrating but also I’m loving how she’s grown through each of the books. Her love story with Cullen is something I can’t get enough of. Even though they both frustrate me to no end I just know however it ends for them it’s gonna be big, it’s gonna be juicy and I’m here for it. And now theres a little bit of a thing going on with Olivin too?! But now he was left behind?! Ahh! Idk what’s going to happen!

Umm also the explosion?! Who survived?! Who didn’t?! What happened?! I need to know!! So many questions! Guess I’ll have to read the next book sooner rather than later!

This is the third book in the series A Trial of Sorcerers. Elise is the best and has a recap page for the first two so even though it's been a while since I have read these, I was able to jump back in. The pacing was done really well in this and it was much more about the tournament itself as compared to the other books, where I felt the larger plot was more focused on. I enjoyed this read and I can't wait for the next one!
