Honestly I love a rom com it's probably my favourite genre. But I cannot stand this book Colin is unironicly abusive the whisledown revail fell falt and the pacing was all over the place. Wish I had never bothered.

It was good. colin and penelope are very cute in this book. i enjoyed except for some weird lines to describe how colin feels about penelope every now and then (like his animal instincts, i hate lines like that and bridgerton series uses it everywhere.) also how mad colin was at penelope. he was so mad mean and rude to her
she didnt want cressida taking credit for her 11 years of writing. she poored her heart into writing these columns and here comes cressida to take credit for it all. and he was so mad at her bc she could be ruined over the things she said in her columns. but she didnt care if someone else took credit for it, it just couldnt be cressida. she had been bullied relentlessly by her for years. and he just couldnt get that and was livid at her for not taking advantage of this opportunity to have cressida take the blame.
Another thing i didnt quite like was i felt like if takes a bit for things to happen. it’s all this describing which is good but i think there is slightly too much. just over explaining and i just wanted it to get to the point. it only did that a few times.

THEIR FIRST KISS. i was screaming reading that part. i was so happy and excited. and then the second one
😳. the romance in this book was really good.

the bridgerton sibling interactions in this book are very cute and kinda funny. especially hyacinth i love her so much.

fav lines:
- “people never talk to me,” she snapped “half the time they didn’t even know I was there. how do you think I was able to keep up with the ruse for so long in the first place? I was invisible, Colin. no one saw me, no one talk to me. I just stood and listened, and no one noticed.” - broke. my. heart.
-  “but there’s something rather enjoyable about the word glue. slides off the tongue rather pleasingly, don’t you think? Glue. Glooooooo.” - hyacinth said this line and i love her. cant wait to read her book
-  “I love you with everything I am, everything I've been, and everything I hope to be. I love you with my past, and I love you for my future. I love you for the children we'll have and for the years we'll have together. I love you for every one of my smiles and even more, for every one of your smiles.” - ahhhhhhhhhh

taylor swift songs that embody this book:
- enchanted

Still misogynistic.
But I have to admit, this was my favourite in the Bridgerton series so far

I hate Colin Bridgerton so much that I can't finish this book and I'm going to do my best to ignore him in the following books.
The scenes of him squeezing Penelope's arm so hard that he's going to leave a bruise is very disturbing. Especially because I suspect the author doesn't see anything wrong with that since he's using physical violence to stop himself from blowing up about his concern for her "self-destructive behavior". A loving sex scene follows a scene with a terrified Penelope that's upset Colin at their engagement party. He hurts her and tells her to smile for their guests as they have their first dance. The air of you're going to get it the moment when we step away made my stomach hurt. And he leads her to a place she knows no one will hear or find them. But instead of following the tension of the scene to its conclusion her thoughts transition over to how much she loves him and is willing to take whatever she must. It's sick and made the sex scene unbearable.
