What an absolutely stirring play debut by JC Lee. I watched the film a few weeks back and was thinking about it for the rest if the week. The play’s structure is just as psychologically enthralling, but for many different reasons. This script from page to page is so rich and simple in its dialogue; minimal yet so complex in its delivery — I’m on the edge of my seat the entire time. The entire journey from scene to scene was subtly boiling the entire time, versus the film really amplifying certain moments in dialogue and speech. Reading the text though was just as thrilling but definitely didn’t need a score to hold its ground.
This piece does not overstay its welcome at all and just gives you exactly what you need to think about it forever.
