This was a really good read. It’s a slow burn like the series, so don’t expect it to go fast. I wasn’t a fan of changing perspectives each chapter because I felt the momentum was lost at times, but I understand this is how he writes and it’s okay. I hope to read the rest of the series if possible. I feel quite accomplished after reading that massive book!

I want to punch some characters & I want to mourn the future loss of others!

Prefacing this review with a disclaimer, I had finished this book so long ago that I forgot when I did. I just realized that I hadn't reflected on it today.

A Song of Ice and Fire is my first foray into fantasy epics and it's immediately clear why both the books and the television adaptation is as well received as they are. While immaculately complex, the large web of events, characters, and schemes harmonize into a wonderful tale of good versus bad versus the mysterious danger that is the world.
