To be honest, the first half of the book did not really captivate me. I couldn't see where it was going and the story itself was a little flat.
But otherwise, the second half of the book was much better and i really enjoyed it.

Colin Singleton has just been dumped by the 19th Katherine. In a desperate act to help his friend find some healing, Colin's best friend, Hassan, takes Colin on a road trip with no specific destination. The two boys end up in Gutshot, Tennessee, where Colin has a eureka moment. All relationships end by someone getting dumped, maybe there is a mathematical way to predict how long a relationship will last and who will be the dumpee.
Green's writing is consistently great. He knows his audience well and is able to connect to them deeply. He creates detailed, funny, relatable characters who the reader wants to see find success and happiness.

This one was honestly just blah for me. I did not really care for the plot and I found it quite boring. I did not like the main character at all. I honestly think it could have been better without Colin in some parts. I did however like Hassan and Lindsey a lot. I felt like they added to the enjoyment of the novel. There were only two times however where I found myself truly smiling/emoting from reading this. 1) Chapter 13 and 2) Chapter 16 with TOC. Overall, not my favorite.

This was an interesting book. Definitely different then TFiOS which I read first. I wouldn't say it's his best but it was a fun quick read. There were some very funny parts to this book.
Not as good as [b:Eleven Karens|2305409|Eleven Karens|Peter Lefcourt|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1428467484s/2305409.jpg|2311821], perhaps because targeted at a younger audience? I should've read this when I was a teenager and Eleven Karens in my 20s, I guess. Also, footnotes are really inconvenient to read in eBook format, but that's not the author's fault.
I loved the whole idea of mattering; how Colin wanted to make his mark on the world.
This was my second John Green novel, the first being the Fault in our Stars, and even though I felt that the writing styles were similar, everything else seems to dramatically defer. This wasn't an issue for me as I quite enjoy light-hearted reads which is the category I believe this novel falls into.
I felt that some characters were better then others, Hassan was quite hilarious, and that there was enough going on with the plot to keep me interested.
Reading through people's reviews I got the feeling that readers were expecting more depth, but I enjoyed the book for what it was.
