Fairly solid of an ending to the series, but not exactly great. I think this book tired me out on Holly Black's writing, unfortunately. I'm definitely too old to be reading YA and while the second book of the series felt as though it was maturing a bit in the writing, this one felt way more juvenile than the first one. Or maybe I just lost my patience when the book failed to charm me in other ways. I had plenty of issues with how some characters and dynamics were handled, the pacing left something to be desired, and I do really wish the writing was at least a little bit more descriptive of setting and imagery and all that, but I still read through this rather quickly and I can't do that with books I don't enjoy at least a little bit.

Overall liked the story but was hoping more interaction between the two after what happened in the previous book

4/5 stars | this was way better than the wicked king but is equally as good as the cruel prince. i'm so happy and content on how this series ended.

4.5 ⭐️

Oh this was SO SO CLOSE to being a 5 star, but I feel like for this to be the conclusion of the story it needed to be a bit longer! I absolutely loved every part of this story but it felt like we moved on too quickly from each section which left me wanting more.

That being said, The Folk of the Air series is a solid 4 star series for me and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a short and sweet fantasy series. Holly Black's writing is so beautiful (I don't understand why people have so much beef with her?) and there's so many quotes in here that made me draw in a breath. "By you, I am forever undone." I'm sorry? That's the most romantic thing I've ever read!

Jude is absolutely one of my favourite female main characters ever. From the very beginning, she was headstrong and wanted more for herself. Rather than the usual trope of a weak little thing who becomes a brave strong woman, Jude has always been strong and I admire that about her. I love how the characters' stories concluded as well in this series, I loved them all in their own little way. Apart from Madoc, he can fuck off.

Overall, a great series with an interesting plot and beautifully written characters - but I wish these were longer and had we learnt more about the lore of this world as I didn't want to leave it!

Okay, I feel like the other two books in the series is a lot better than this one. Don't get me wrong, I devoured 70% of it in one sitting, but the last 30% felt flat to me.
Still,
This is the series of my life, and I love it. I love every one of them in here.
The politics, the actual enemies-to-lovers, the slowburn, the baddass fmc and sassy mmc, everything is chef's kiss.
Go read this series. NOW.

i went to bed at 5am bc of wicked king, and started on this one immediately after i woke up

loved that last chapter <3 i wouldn't call this a romantasy though, romance was maybea 20% of the whole series.

Cardan is my main man even as a serpent
