I was not expecting the ending. Really enjoyed this short story, a detailed story packed in only 40 pages but well written.

4/5 starts.

*The Heart of a Mother* by Julie Clark is a beautifully crafted short story that delves into the complexities of maternal love and sacrifice. Set within the framework of the Obsession Series, Clark weaves a gripping narrative that explores the lengths a mother will go to protect her child.

Clark's prose is emotive and powerful, drawing the reader into the protagonist's world from the very first sentence. The characters are vividly portrayed, each with their own motivations and struggles that add layers to the story. The pacing is perfect for a short story, with tension building steadily until the satisfying and emotionally resonant conclusion. Highly recommended for fans of literary fiction and those who enjoy exploring the complexities of human relationships.

This short story packs a punch that will leave you hugging your mother tighter and also asking her what she'd do in this situation. I feel like I can't talk about this much due to not wanting to spoil it 😕 but I absolutely loved that this book was free on KU and audible so I could listen while I did stuff around the house.

Eh it was fine. I expected the twist but was hoping for a little more with the ending. The synopsis made me expect more suspense than the short story included. A very forgettable read.
