“There was never grief without love or love without grief, and I chose to think that my aunt lived because of them. Because of all the light and love and joy that she found in the shadows of everything that plagued her. She lived because she loved, and she lived because she was love, and what a lovely lifetime she gave us.”
I don’t even remember when I last rated a book 5 stars!! I have been LONGING for a romance with an incredible story and this book is exactly that. Poston’s writing is so so freaking beautiful. The imagery is immaculate. Is it weird to say it was so good that I wanted to literally eat the pages.. anyway
I will say I was still left a bit confused about just how the magic of the apartment worked, but for some reason I didn’t really care by the end of the book. It was just that good!! Very easy read other than that, and I’m so happy I finally picked up this book.

Wrapping up the review for the final book of the year. This book had a lot of potential to be the one and only 5 star read of the year but I wanted to see how I would feel about it, so I slept on it. Unfortunately when I woke up, I still had some parts of the book that I didn't love as much.
This is definitely a page turner because I read 53% in one sitting. I liked the touch of magical realism in romance books because you don't find that often. It reminded me a lot of Addie LaRue. I liked the writing style because it is very literature fictiony, kinda like how Emily Henry writes.
It was a breath of fresh air how every character was fully flushed out and had a point for being in the book rather than just being thrown in there for the plot. I could feel myself being emotionally invested in the characters, and even the magical apartment.
Clementine (Lemon) and James (Iwan) are the cutest and most wholesome fictional couple ever!!
I also liked how realistic the figuring out the life and career part was. It resonated a lot with me since I'm in my 20 something, figuring out what I want to do in life.
But there were some things that were off for me. Like how some descriptions were repeated twice within the same page (like I get the point but be a little original. Why are you copying yourself?) and the ending felt a little rushed and incomplete. I feel like there were a lot of plotlines that could have been talked about in-depth like Iwan's mom being her aunt's lover, more about her life after she switches careers, etc?
But all in all, it was a very enjoyable read.
PS: I would love to see this movie get its own movie/tv-show adaptation

I unfortunately didn’t like this as much as I thought I would. This could have been so much better but I was bored for most of the time. Didn’t like the fmc that much and didn’t get as much romance as I wanted. It was indeed more focused on the mc’s job, food and grief and I wasn’t expecting it.
