I just couldn't get into, it made me cringe. I was hoping the magic part would be more prevalent and not just a meet cute. And Lemon from Clementine???

I debated reading this at all because I HATED The Dead Romantics. But I was in need of a romance palette cleanser so I figured why not. And I’m glad I did because this was exponentially better. For me, anyway.

If The Dead Romantics was Just Like Heaven, The Seven Year Slip was The Lake House.

I started this book on audio and really liked it. But because I was visiting family, I had to switch to the physical copy more than halfway through and it lost the spark for me that the audiobook had. I liked both the main characters a lot and I think they had great chemistry. They felt real and mature. The book started off so strong for me (although the author could have cut back on talking about Lemon’s passport so much). It was about at the 80% mark that it started falling a little flat and felt rushed. Overall I liked the concept and I might go back and read it again because I think a second read through might result in a higher rating.

Something about the style made it hard to connect; maybe because it felt like there was a lot of brand name dropping right off the bat. Seemed like forced pretentiousness.
