Another PKD joint that fathered thousands of bastard copies.

The beginning was a little too Xtian for me, and then when it later got into more familiar PKD territory it was a little too familiar. One of things that I will always love about his books though is that autobiographical feeling, when characters are trying to figure out if what they perceived is real, a hallucination, or a deliberate deception, the conversations seem so natural. Also clearly real life is how in the future, on other planets, the automatic coffee machine and the radio are broken.

Loved this one! Engaging throughout. A sort of intraplanetary murder mystery with a bunch of castaways on a far off planet. Some very intriguing religious elements stirred into the mix. Great character development. Delmak-O was spooky and mysterious. Strange space creatures. A past shrouded in fog. And a gut-wrenching ending. I’m putting this at the front of the stack of Dick novels I’ve read thus far.

Strange (no surprise!) Couldn't get into it, sort of like Agatha Christie'sThen there was One, set on a colonial outpost, and tripping off it's face.

This is my new favorite PKD. I love how he uses the same tropes in most of his books but still manages to give each one of them a different flavor. A Maze of Death stands out because it features one of the most compelling fictional religions in literature. It also has a genuinely mind-bending reveal. I don't think any other sci-fi authors can keep you guessing like PKD does. Can't recommend this enough.
