That was a great read

I really enjoyed this book! Vernestra is favorite character. I love her progression throughout the High Republic series. Avon, too! She is way too smart and would love to see what she does with her science

As somebody who has enjoyed every High Republic book up until this point t I was pretty disappointed. Characters that have been phenomenal and interesting in the previous entries were boring and very dry in this book. The story wasn't very compelling compared to previous entries, and for the first time in the high republic novels I felt bored while reading. There are a few things that this boon does right, but it failed to build on all the previous books in any meaningful way.

Thank you Netgalley and Disney Lucasfilm Press for a review copy of this book.

The middle grade novels for the high republic are turning out to be so much fun! This one is a quick adventure following my favorite Jedi so far, Vernestra and her empath padawan, Imri.

This book is great for the younger kids who want to read more Star Wars, but also for us young kids at heart.

Justina Ireland delivers once again. As a middle grade novel, I'll admit I'm not its target audience. However, as a Star Wars fan, and someone who is greatly enjoying The High Republic era, this was another great installment.

Vernestra remains a delight, but although she is a particular favorite of mine, suffice it to say that all of the characters have a ton of heart and soul behind them. Ireland remains a master at characterization.

A random pick.

I’m thinking the target audience is pre-teen. There’s plenty of conversations and discussions.

The plot itself is a pretty straightforward rescue mission: it alternates between the rescuer story and the prisoner story.

The Dalnan vice president, a man named Hackrack Bep, had taken Vernestra right to aggravated in less than a handful of minutes.

…………….

That just made Avon feel like crying all over again. Imri patted her on the shoulder. “I’m not mad, and we’re…”
