This book was great until the end when it fell into the kill your gays trope and pretended it had found a fantasy loop hole. Personally the ending really let me down and I have to drop the score accordingly.

Pirates and mermaids are everything I love in life, and this book has both, so I guess my rating is not too impartial. But besides my life-long obsession with the sea, the book is well written, the world building is very interesting and the cast of chats has so much to offer. I’m locating the sequel as I write so I may delve deeper into this universe.
