Without spoiling too much, Dash and Lily are going to be apart at Christmas time, that is until Lily devises a plan to surprise him in London. Since nothing ever goes according to plan, can our favorite Christmas couple figure out their post high school plans in time to enjoy their holiday?

Glad to have a new adventure with this couple but as much as I love London it didn’t have the same level of magical escapism as New York does, for me. I now want to have afternoon tea at Claridges though and have hope they’ll make this along with the second book for Netflix. I found Cadbury chocolates irritating and want it to be Cadbury’s!!

Had a hard time with this one. I've either gotten too old for this type of book or the favorite writing duo of my teen years has not quite managed to fully adapt to the current times.

A lot of the time I found Dash and Lily irritating and annoying. I get it, they're struggling with planning their futures, it's hard to figure out what you want to do with your life. One the one hand that's realistic and relatable, on the other it mostly feels like first world problems because they never have to worry about money and the world is basically open to them. I know that doesn't mean that life can't be hard but please, could they check their privilege every once in a while? And then at the end all their problems are magically resolved, suddenly it's easy to make life-changing decisions and everything falls into place. Not helpful.

A lot of the humor in this book derives from differences between the US and the UK. I've only briefly visited both countries, so I'm no expert, but the jokes seemed rather contrived and cliché to me. Also, I don't know how else to put this, but I wish the book had been more woke? Why drop references to Harry Potter and to Johnny Depp that could've been easily replaced with less problematic names? Why does Lily, a New Yorker who loves dogs and is a proud vegetarian, never mention veganism? Those points just seem out of date and like missed chances.

In general, I think the plot had its merits and I did enjoy seeing Dash at Oxford, albeit very briefly, all the literary references, and the new character Ezra.

I have three thoughts upon finishing this: 1) I’d like to go back to when I was blissfully unaware there was more than one book in this series. 2) The amount of privilege the main characters in this book are given is absolutely wild. 3) They really just made Lily progressively worse as the series went on, to the point where she was insufferable in this one.
