While I found the science, statistics, and perspectives Eberhardt shared in this book to be illuminating and interesting, I had a hard time, as an abolitionist connecting to or agreeing with some of the information regarding policing in this country. I think biases are a huge problem for everyone and agree with the author that addressing those biases is important yet difficult. The book was written in a clear and concise manner, even when it was reviewing study findings, in a way that not a lot of mixed-methods or quantitative research books are. All in all, I found it to be a quick read with some new information for me to learn and a varying perspective to explore.

Fascinating and eye opening. A good balance of research and data presented alongside real life stories. The chapters were long and some tended to drag a bit, but overall a worthwhile and recommended read.
