Cashore loves traumatized people working through their issues and also wilderness survival. Which is perfect, because I also love those things. And while it can be frustrating in the moment to be in the head of someone with poor coping mechanisms, that makes the payoff of them learning and growing sweeter in the end.

Though one of my favorite characters, this was my least favorite of the series.  I was a bit concerned when I saw the length. And thought the book would have been better with another round of editing.
