4.5⭐️ I honestly loved this so much. It was such a quiet but profound and hopeful story, which was so lovely to read. I really enjoyed learning about Hava and though she is quite unlikable, I still liked her nonetheless. I did find a small portion in the middle of the book to become a bit repetitive and long winded, but overall I flew through this. I also am just obsessed with the foxes and the audio narrator who does their voices is spectacular.... let me go find myself a fox now please:)
Lots of trigger warnings - the book itself is really a study of trauma and healing (there's no skipping over that . . . it's threaded throughout the whole story and there are near-constant descriptions of extremely traumatic experiences)
I'M PRETTY SURE I HAVE NEVER LOVED A CHARACTER IN A BOOK AS MUCH AS I LOVE HAVA! I LOVE HAVA!
This is a gorgeous book. Just gorgeous. Incredibly moving (I basically sobbed the entire time I read it).
It beautifully connects to all the other Graceling books, and shows Cashore's growth as a writer (I really loved the first book, but even so, this book is SO much better).
I really liked Hava in Winterkeep, and it was so wonderful to be able to discover her thoughts and feelings ... and realize that her inner life perfectly fits the way she spoke and acted in that book . . . but there's a whole world inside Hava that I couldn't guess at! (Maybe because NO ONE - including the other characters - can really guess at it)
I feel so grateful to have been able to live inside Hava's world. I truly, truly love this character.
And I adore this book. One of the best I've read - in the top ten of hundreds.

Hava's narration initially bothered me but I really loved her character arc. Although I think Linny was my favorite.
I loved this so much and I'm sad its over.
I was kind of scared of this book because even though I enjoyed the last two books in the graceling realm, I wasn't a huge fan of them. But Seasparrow may be my favorite in the series. Hava isn't a nice character, she is a bitch most of the time tbh, but I love her so much. She is relatable, she felt so real and I loved how she changed throughout the story but still stayed the same person. All the side characters were so good, they all had their own stories and I enjoyed the relationships between them all. This book took me on a wild ride. The stuff they all go through is brutal and heartbreaking. Tbh this book made me tear up so many times. The first part of the book is fun and exciting and I love that it takes place on a ship. Then the story takes a turn and it becomes very heavy and real. It was depressing at times, tbh, but in a good way. I did feel that the last part was dragging a tiny bit at the end, but besides that, I loved everything about it. The ending was perfect and I'm so happy about where Hava ended up.
Hava is an unlikable character but I love her so damm much. She is one of my favorite characters in the series. The Graceling Realm books were such a fun ride and each book gave me something different. Fire and Seasparrow are for sure my favorites, but I see myself rereading them all again. I'm curious to see if there will be more books in this world. If they are, I will read them for sure!

I will admit that this book stressed me out so much that I had to speed read through some chapters. In my head, Tulip and Blueberry are just fine.
I will be reviewing this for Strange Horizons. I'll post a link when available.
This book is sooo good. My favorite book I’ve read this year. It gave me all the feels and I loved following both the inner and outer journey the main character, Hava goes on. It also has one of my favourite romances ever even though it wasn’t a huge focus. Nothing is rushed in this book but it also feels like so much happens, in the best way possible. I have a soft spot for the whole Graceling Realm series. Thank you, Kristin Cashore!
