I was very fond of Hava, and I liked her internal turmoil and I found the way her trauma manifests to be both believable and compelling - it never felt convenient, as she’s often getting into her own way. But I think the book was just… too long. Because we’re in Hava’s head, the messy political ramifications are not at the forefront like they were in Bitterblue and Winterkeep, but we don’t have action and adventure like in Graceling and Fire. I suppose that’s what made this one feel more real. But it also made for a less engaging read overall.

{Thank you PRH Audio for the ALC; all thoughts are my own}

Ich liebe einfach den unaufgeregten Schreibstil. Das Buch strahlt so eine Ruhe aus und ist trotz der wenigen Action sehr tiefgründig.
