DNF. Asshole male lead. There are no other words; the male lead is an asshole.

From the outside, Chantal O'Hurley would seem to have it all. Blonde, beautiful, and a movie star, most people would trade places with her in an instance. Except then they would be the one being stalked; the ones being threatened with death. Chantal is over it.
Quinn Doran is willing to do a favor for his friend Matt, Chantal's agent. But he's sure he knows what's going on. An actress who needs drama in her personal life as well as on screen, Chantal O'Hurley may be beautiful but she's obviously a nut. Except that she really is getting notes. And phone calls. And flowers. The more time he spends with her the more he realizes that he may have misjudged her.
An interesting story but not a lot of character development. Some definite heat between the two characters. It's not aging very well with Chantal being a smoker (though maybe actresses still are) and Quinn being so very misogynistic.

The beautiful Chantel O'Hurley is in trouble, when an overly enthusiastic fan turns into a stalker. Scared and not knowing what to do, she asks her friend and agent for help and he brings along Quinn Doran, a security expert who has little sympathy for her plight, until he reads one of the letters she's received.
He takes the job and sets out to find out who the stalker is, getting closer to her by necessity and setting sparks flying in the process. The two rub each other the wrong way and keep butting heads, that inevitably lead to an intense romance between them.
My suspicions on who the stalker was were confirmed,, but although it took him some time, Quinn caught on as well and was just in time to save the day.
Enjoyable story with lots of banter between the protagonists. Last in the series comes the elusive Trace's story in [b:Without A Trace|426570|Without A Trace (The O'Hurleys #4)|Nora Roberts|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388243202s/426570.jpg|40846673].

as it turns out the nervous writer had a few screws loose that had him confusing Chantel with the heroine she portrayed and almost taking her lifeEnjoyable story with lots of banter between the protagonists. This book was very fast paced when it came to the relationship between Chantel and Quinn. However, with Chantel's stalker storyline, it was a bit slow and as readers we were only given little pieces here and there. I know that this is meant to be a romance novel, but it felt very off and at times I forgot that there was supposed to be this dangerous stalker. Additionally, any info we got related to that story line felt half-assed. I will say that the best part of the book was the ending. That's when I felt the book interest and intrigue and like there was actual story development. Also, Quinn is low key toxic and has anger issues.
Graphic: Stalking
Moderate: Child death, Infertility, Mental illness, and Car accident

Never thought I'd ever give anything less than a 3-star rating for a Nora Roberts book but here I am.

Since i started reading these O'Hurley books, they have continued to affirm to me that they should be classified as fantasy books :). Marriage proposals in three weeks? Hmmm!
That being said, I now have to read all of them!!
This particular one is my least favourite so far.

I loved this book! It's been two years since I read the previous instalment but it barely felt like a day had past as the characters were introduced. The plot was really good and I hadn't guessed correctly! Excellent characters and even Molly and Frank make an appearance! A good mix of suspense, romance and laughter - a great summer light hearted read.

A classic romantic scenario is pitting two 'difficult' characters against each other, resulting in clashes, sparks, then love as they realize they're the only ones who can put up with each other.
It feels like that might have been the intent here, but it ended up a little lopsided. Chantel is on the surface a spoiled Hollywood actress who has it all: beauty, brains, fame, fortune. She's cold as ice and hasn't had a relationship in pretty much forever. But underneath, we learn of her humble roots, her love of family and friends, and in short, all the expected 'heart of gold' stuff.
Quinn on the other hand, has a surface persona of an anti-social, woman hating jerk. Later on, we learn that he's all of that, plus also not a very good security guard. Quinn's reasons for falling in love with Chantel are also somewhat murky, which makes him seem just like every other guy who throws himself at her feet because of her great beauty.
While essentially a romance, Nora also weaves in the mystery of who Chantel's stalker is, and Nora can weave a pretty good mystery.
I think I would have given this 4 stars if the hero wasn't such a macho butthead.
