I liked the discussion about capitalism’s corrosive impact on independent businesses and turning things soulless, which can be dangerous when it comes to art. It had a gothic/Lynchian atmosphere to it, which I appreciated. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of art-house cinema.

i loved this book. it was weird, gross, and fascinating. i love the cinema and see it as a place of comfort. whilst this book was definitely not comforting, it is at the heart, an exploration of our ties to this space.

This book reminded me of sitting in a buddy's dank, weed smoke filled, basement watching some grungy indie movie. It made me feel like getting off a late night work shift at the bar in the most nostalgic way possible.
