There were lots of twists and turns, but the plot got a little bit lost sometimes. The ending wasn't particularly satisfying. Personally I don't like that the author went for the "insane woman" plot line. I love a flawed and unlikeable main character, but when the plot went from "taking revenge against an abusive partner" to "actually she's just insane and making things up" I got a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

Thursday is madly in love with her husband Seth. They've been through so much together and she loves the time that she gets to spend with him, which is mostly on Thursdays. One thing that is unique about their relationship is that Seth has two other wives, Monday and Tuesday. Thursday is his legal wife though. They have a rule that the identities of the other wives should never be discussed or investigated. One day though, something triggers Thursday to find out who Monday really is. That day changes everything.

While reading this book, I couldn't figure out who the crazy was. I finally decided it must be me because of how quickly things kept changing! I wasn't completely surprised by the ending as I was starting to have inklings about halfway through but there were a few nuggets that still caught me off guard. I enjoyed this book and it will probably be one I think about for quite some time. I read this on the recommendation of my sister and I'm so glad I borrowed it on the Libby app from my local library!

I have mixed feelings on The Wives by Tarryn Fisher. Truly.

On one hand, it was a super engaging and suspenseful mystery and psychological thriller that made me question absolutely everything I thought I knew. I had no idea what was actually true half the time. I liked the main character and really, really felt for her.

On the other, though, this book is a terrible representation of polyamory, mental illness, and domestic violence — especially in the second half. If you are particularly sensitive about this, don’t read it. It was particularly jarring (and outright inaccurate) when it came to psychosis. I thought the ending, while indeed as shocking as it was meant to be, was unnecessary and didn’t make much sense. If it wasn’t for these factors, I would’ve rated it much higher because it was quite interesting otherwise.

Was actually really enjoying the books twists and turn and was excited by the idea that the man was the "crazy" one for once but oh no...it was the woman again. Plot was original but the ending was so boring and just like every other thriller.
