4.0 ⭐️ Never watched an F1 race in my life but this was cute. I did deduct from rating because I hate F boy behavior. Ya boy needed to grovel a whole lot more than he did.

“What are the chances of dying of a heart attack at twenty- three? Seriously, you’re googling this? I didn’t know I had such an effect on you. You flatter me.”

“If it were another life, I’d probably do right by you. I’d take you on dates and try harder. But that’s not who I am or how I was raised. I don’t know how to be the kind of emotional guy you desire.”

“They’ll never be as good as what we could have. But this is why people like you never have happily- ever- afters. You’re so jaded, you can’t see the best things until it’s too late.”

“Noah never letting a day go by where he doesn’t tell or show me how he loves me. A broken masterpiece no longer defined by his past.”

A feel good romance which discusses topics such as past childhood abuse and neglect.

I think this one gave me a new topic of sports romance to obsess over. While I’ve mainly enjoyed sports romances focused around football, hockey, and skiing/snowboarding, Asher’s use of Formula 1 in this novel, and for the corresponding series, has me hooked. I never thought about reading a sports romance focused around F1, but I figured I’d give this one a try, and there are no regrets.

The relationship between Maya Alatorre and Noah Slade is amusing for sure. The reluctance of the pair to admit how they feel, and their back and forth banter doesn’t disappoint. While the pair are constantly drawn to each other they, and their friends will do whatever it takes to keep them away from each other, especially considering Maya is the sister of Noah’s rival and teammate.

It was straight into book 2 of the Dirty Air series for me after finishing this one. So if you’re down for hidden romances, cheeky banter, and all the s*xual tension, give this one a go. This definitely didn’t disappoint. Please do keep in mind there is s*xual content if that isn’t for you.

The slump was SLUMPINNNN

“Maya breathes new life into me, not wanting to piece me together but accepting all my jagged parts.”

Dirty Air Series #1

Ratings : ✩✩✩✩

Blurb:

Noah Slade is a Formula 1 legend in the making.
Focused. Unapproachable. Ruthless on and off the track.
A man with walls higher than the Grand Canyon.
And my brother's new teammate.
I want more of the prince who disguises himself as the villain.
But while I crave a happy ending, he wants to destroy his.

Maya Alatorre is a forbidden temptation.
An ambitious post-grad I should stay far away from.
And chaos wrapped with a bow.
We're a ticking time bomb, about one wrong move away from exploding.
I want to trip the wire, detonating together in passion and pain.
Because in the end, all's fair in lust and war.

Review:

→ I have read about Brother's best friend but reading about Brother's rival is a new trope for me and I absolutely enjoyed it. I love how Santi played the role of overprotective grumpy elder brother whenever she is seen around Noah or any other F1 player. This reminds me of a quote that I loved a lot in the book and I have laughed my ass off reading that quote,

“Santiago, please come collect your sister. She fucks up everyone’s work schedule.”

→ I loved how the therapy is given importance in the book. I was agitated at Noah but then I understood his point but still, it didn't give him a chance to break Maya's heart. But I am glad that idiot finally uses his brain and fights for the woman who is his life now.

→ Maya, I like how she puts herself on top and has self-worth. She knew she was falling for him but still chose to think about herself and I liked it.

→ Overall, I feel the book was quite rushed. It could have been better but I guess it's the first book in the series and it takes time to settle in the plot. I hope it gets better in the coming books *fingers crossed*
