It was fine. Bit of a weird arc to it.
This book was fantastic. For someone who has no knowledge of what F1 racing is Lauren Asher gives you the information without feeling like you’re learning at all. This is one of the reasons that I like Lauren Asher’s writing style and the way she goes about delivering information.

Lauren Asher’s “Throttled”, the first book in the Dirty Air series, delivers a captivating romance set against the thrilling backdrop of Formula 1 racing. This steamy and emotional story explores themes of passion, ambition, and self-discovery, making it a must-read for sports romance enthusiasts.
The story follows Maya Alatorre, a free-spirited aspiring influencer who joins her brother as he navigates the high-stakes world of F1 racing. Enter Noah Slade, the brooding, irresistibly charming driver whose reputation on the track is rivaled only by his reputation off it. Sparks fly as Maya and Noah are thrown together in close proximity, but their love story is far from smooth. Between the pressure of the spotlight, family dynamics, and the ghosts of their pasts, Asher weaves a compelling narrative that feels both glamorous and deeply personal.
What sets “Throttled” apart is the balance Asher strikes between the fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled world of F1 and the heartfelt, character-driven romance. Maya’s relatable struggles with self-doubt and Noah’s battle with vulnerability add depth to their relationship, creating moments that are as tender as they are intense.
The chemistry between the protagonists is electric, and Asher’s writing captures it with palpable tension. The dual perspectives give readers insight into both characters’ inner worlds, making their journeys feel authentic and emotionally resonant.
If there’s a critique, it’s that the pacing occasionally feels rushed, particularly in resolving some conflicts. However, the vibrant settings, witty banter, and emotionally charged romance more than make up for it.
“Throttled” is a high-octane love story brimming with drama, glamour, and heart. Whether you’re a fan of sports romance or new to the genre, this book is an exhilarating ride you won’t want to miss.
