This book started out slow, but really picked up in the middle. It is extremely sad and feels like a meditation on loneliness and what a person would do to find some kind of connection. The ending was underwhelming for me after everything that had happened... I can't tell was the point that it is difficult to be a woman so don't do it... raising girls is too difficult... was the author trying to not be cliche... either way I think it fell flat.

I thought the story was good, I enjoyed reading it, but it's not my favorite.

Prose is very plain, a lot of telling and barely any showing. Not my cup of tea.

Everything I try to write about how I feel after reading this book just doesn’t seem enough. I loved every minute reading it. I couldn’t read it fast enough but I didn’t want it to end. The relationships and feelings about family when you’re young to how those relationships change when you look back after trauma and darkness in childhood really resonated with me. I don’t have any other words I can say other than I love this novel and it will remain with me.
