The book is weirdly paced and IMO not emotional enough (especially considering its intent., but besides that a fun read

You don't have to understand life. You just have to live it.

In the moment between life and death, Nora is taken to the Midnight Library where she is confronted by the infinite possibilities of paths not taken and lives not lived and nearly crushed by The Book of Regrets.

Exploring her authentic self with each life visited and accepting the complex, interwoven fabric of her life choices produce unforeseeable and unknowable potential futures and consequences brings into sharp relief the importance of small things and little kindnesses in her day-to-day life.

While the return to her root life and her happy-ish ever after was never in doubt, the character arch served as a timely reminder, as sappy as it may sound, that a life well lived is a life lived on your own terms.

It felt at times like the author wrote this book to try to convince suicidal people not to commit suicide and I think that's generally unhelpful and insensitive. If not read as for this purpose, there are some insightful concepts and interesting ideas that are explored pretty well. I was fond of Nora. Seemed like she had lots of autistic traits to me.

I found myself innately drawn to the main character. I have also dealt with significant depression for the majority of my life. I have also wondered about other lives I could have lived had I made different choices, or if my body wasn't as worn as it has been at such a young age. It's somewhat comforting to believe that there are infinite possibilities that I could have explored. I've felt that immense desire to not be here anymore and this book really spoke to me. I will be purchasing the book, and I know I will read it again.
