I really enjoyed reading this book in high school. It was a sweet coming-of-age story about making friends who love you for you.

This book is a great coming of age book that I think every teenager, aged 16 or older, should read at least once in their life. The book is about a socially awkward Freshman, named Charlie, who ends up befriending two seniors, who are cousins, named Patrick and Sam, at a school football game. Charlie experiences high school life with his new friend group and while he has fun, his struggles with mental health starts to get in the way. This book touches on some heavy topics, but it documents high school and the teenage years in a somewhat realistic way. The book is also fast paced, (under 250 pages), which helped me get out of a reading slump. Overall, this book was a rare case in which I rated a book 5 stars as it is a relatable book with a positive message in the end.

I liked the movie infinitely better. I had trouble getting used to Charlie's narrative voice as he sounded like a nine-year-old at best.
