Started off very interesting but kind of fizzled in the middle. Still got some really interesting tips and ideas.
Started off good, quickly became more entertainment than meat.
How to lie about your life and maybe you’ll make money. Couldn’t even finish this book. It has some good mindset tips, especially if you hate everyone but yourself. I thought it was going to be about having a mindset change about work/life balance. Instead I now know how to be a crime less con artist.

My husband asked me to read this book. While I appreciate the main theme of living a life you want now instead of waiting until retirement, there are many aspects of Ferriss’ theory I wholeheartedly disagree with. First off this proposal continues to create an inequitable system. For Ferriss theory to work, he can’t have his own employees or virtual assistants apply his own work philosophy, there always has to be people grinding away to allow for Ferriss to have multiple mini-retirements throughout the year. This leads to my second complaint- Ferriss is very arrogant and egotistical. Only his (or someone applying this philosophy) time is worthy. I understand his premise of advocating for your own time but banking on others to do the boring or mundane or unappealing work perpetuates a hierarchy.
As an aside, this book did not age well into 2025 post-pandemic work from home times. Additionally this book does not really work as an audiobook. Listening to someone read web addresses was ridiculous. There also seems to be many side bars and quotes scattered throughout that are jarring to listen to and difficult to make sense of the flow.

This book is highly readable because Ferriss's personality shines through his words. He's quite a character.
I like these ideas: reading just the news headlines, answering email twice a day, and polishing/utilizing your strengths rather than trying to fix your weaknesses.
I also like the following script for a criticism sandwich (slightly altered by me):
First of all, I want to thank you for... You are so good at that.
Here's the thing [not "Here's the problem"]. I'm feeling overwhelmed because I don't understand why ...
I'm sure it's just me, but...
It means a lot to me. Thanks.
Before I forget, your [presentation last week or whatever] was excellent...

There are some interesting ideas about passive income and automation of the related processes, but it is hardly worth sorting through piles of narcissism, misogyny, and superiority over anyone who does not participate in the same. Challenging the accepted model of wage-earning, time management, and retirement, only to replace it with a new hegemony, this proposal for designing life is a moral vacuum.

Great content, the additional content like tips and tricks / software seems slightly out of place and pulls you out of it. Overall inspiring messages and actionable items to get started.
