This was so much fun! Definitely one of the best in the series. So excited to read the next one!

It had some funny parts, but the story felt slow to me. I also had a hard time forgiving/rooting for some of the side characters for their betrayals/mistakes when the main characters did.

I really loved the Janie books and also enjoyed this first installment of the Marys. The writing flows well and is easy to read. The stories also always make me look up the namesake and read some of the history. Granted, the characters always get a happy ending in this fictional world, which I'm okay with. Sometimes it's nice to read a book you know will end happy.
