It takes about an hour to read this book, which isn't any great feat giving it's a straight up rendition of the show's pilot. It was good, mindless fun. :)

The dialogue is pure Joss. The novelization comes in the description of the actions, some of the backstory and in how the writer describes the characters.

This was like a copy of the episode's script and added nothing new to the story????

I found this book when my sister brought me a box of my old books. I remember really loving this one when I was younger. When Buffy came on, I was in love. It was one of two shows that I was allowed to stay up late to watch. Buffy Summers was my hero. So I decided to re-read it just for kicks.

The Harvest is basically the novelized version of the first two Buffy episodes. Everything that happens in the episodes are in the book, right down to the dialogue. I'd say the author did a good job with that as I could pretty much see the episode playing along in my head as I read this. It's definitely a quick read, but nothing new if you are a Buffy fan. Somehow I still enjoyed reading it, though.

I thought this book was great. I read it in a day, no problem. It was an easy, fun read. But, if you didn't like the show, you probably won't like the book because it's JUST like the episode.
