That One Night is the prequel to Pucking Around by Emily Rath. This was my first experience with Rath, and I enjoyed it. Even though I own the book, I listened to it instead of reading it. This short novella was a quick listen.

The book follows Rachel Price, a Dr who is drowning her sorrows at a hotel bar. She attended her brother’s wedding, and while there, she got crushing news about a job opportunity for which she had been priming herself. While at the bar she is hit on by a cringy “Chad” and is saved by the very attractive Jake Compton. Jake had plans to meet up with his sister, but because something came up at the last minute, she was unable to come, leaving him alone in Seattle for a week. While at the hotel bar, he notices a girl being hit on, and her body language screams GTFO. Jake jumps in, saves his “sister” from being hit on, and decides to sit and chat for a bit.

Their chemistry is top-notch and pretty instant. You can tell both of them are no strangers when it comes to random hookups. With an agreement of no names, they went back to their room and proceeded to get to business. Both enjoyed themselves immensely. It was pretty hot and spicy, but all the book was about was a one-night stand.

Alex Kydd and Amy Hall did a great job narrating and made me chuckle quite a few times. Listening to the moans and groans always makes me giggle like I’m in 6th-grade sex ed. Alex has a pretty sexy voice. I have already begun listening to Pucking Around.
