Did I like it? No. Was it the most horrifying and brutal book I've ever read? Yes. Rating it highly because it was well written and terrified me, so all in all a good horror book. With that being said, I'll never read it again and you can bet I'll never ever recommend it to anyone.

This book is incredible. The way that King describes trauma, flashbacks and dissociation from the characters POV is insane. This book had me gasping, it had me gagging, it had me at the edge of my SEAT. Real good stuff

This book is a beautiful and traumatizing expression of trauma (sexual trauma specifically) and of the mind’s internal family system which Stephen King writes so accurately and in such a personifying way. It was also the most triggering book I’ve ever read and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who is triggered by sexual abuse/rape or anyone who doesn’t want to read gore and body horror.

It had been more than a year since i've read a King book i think, and i was excited to finally jump into another uneasy read! It was quite uneasy all right, but for all the wrong reasons.

This book was extremely slow paced and boring. It could easily have been atleast half the pages, and that's me being generous. We all know the premise. Girl is bound to bed, can't get out, tries to get out, escape methods and a healthy dose of talking to yourself ensues! This also means you can skip 10 pages or more almost anywhere and realize you haven't missed a single thing.

There are some positives. The dog aswell as - other antagonistic entity i shall not name - piqued my interest. The flashbacks were also a nice escape from the main plot. When it's scary and body-horror filled, it is exactly that and does it well. These parts, however, are scarcer than clean pimpleless skin on my face during puberty.

All in all, i've seen 90-year olds with a faster pace than this book. Hell, there's probably dead ones which can be quicker. Such a stale, yawn-inducing read, bummer.
