I was honestly not expecting to like this book as much as I did. It is the first I have read by this author and I have to say that I now intend to read the rest of this series. Zac shows what it means to love someone even after they have hurt you. Though he doesn't trust her, Zac is willing to sacrifice his own time and hurt feelings to help Lucy out.

The first part of this book had me hooked. The pain these characters had to work through is evident and I couldn't help but hope for their happy ending. Towards the middle, some things did seem to change rather quickly when they probably should have been drawn out more. However, this would have left less time for us to see Zac and Lucy as a couple.

The Christian aspect of this book falls toward the end, with Lucy realizing that God has never left her. With God's help, her and Zac can weather whatever comes at them. It was a great message that fit into the story well. I am so excited that there will be another book in this series.

I received this book through the Fiction Guild in exchange for an honest review.

I always enjoy a Denise Hunter romance, so I was quite happy indeed when this one turned out to be a fun way to spend a few hours! She certainly knows how to write a swoony hero, doesn't she? :) Equal parts mystery (what with the amnesia) and romance (goodness did those two have chemistry), this story is a sweet addition to your library. You should definitely be adding it to your TBR shelf!

Lucy, herself, is pretty memorable. Considering she has no recollection of the last seven months, she has no qualms about making her opinions on where she should be, how her life should look, and what she's going to do to get it back to what she remembers. I have to confess that she frustrated me a bit in the beginning. I wished she had been a bit more willing to realize how her actions might hurt Zac. I could understand her desire for things to go back to what she was remembering, but when someone you love tells you that your actions have the potential to hurt them, wouldn't you do all you could not to continue doing that? Or at least be a bit more understanding about it? I was very happy once she accepted that she needed to take a step back. When that happened, the flow of the romance worked better for me.

And speaking of, I loved the little glimpses we got of how Zac and Lucy met and their time together in the past. I also loved that the angst was kept minimal between them. Yes, they hurt each other, most times very unintentionally, but their chemistry was undeniable, even to them! These are two people who had an awesome relationship and now have to struggle to understand what happened. They both have scars and pain in their backgrounds, Lucy especially, so when they finally reach those pivotal moments, it was wonderful to know they had each other to help work through any future hard.

Also, I do love this Callahan family. The way they pick at each other and support each other no matter what. And the way they're always willing to tell the truth to each other, no matter how difficult it might be. Plus the fact that once you're one of them, you're family! Unless you do something stupid, of course. But Lucy redeems herself, so no worries there! ;) I was also very happy that Eden (from Falling Like Snowflakes) chose to overlook her own fiance and befriend Lucy at a moment when she really needed someone on her side. Their friendship was so sweet.

A quick and entertaining story that had me smiling once I closed the final chapter! If you need an escape into a fictional world for a little, this is a fun way to spend that time. :)

I really fell in love with the Callahan brothers in Falling Like Snowflakes and was eager to read Zac's story as it sounded like it was a humdinger! I really enjoyed The Goodbye Bride right from the first chapter. I LOVE how Denise Hunter opens the story immediately with Lucy's "awakening", as it sucked me in right away.

I enjoyed "visiting" with the Callahan brothers again and seeing Beau and Eden from the first book again. I think Denise does an excellent job keeping each book separate, but still sharing threads of the story. Going with a family of brothers makes it easy I think! LOL!

I really liked Beau and Eden, but I think I like Lucy and Zac even more! They both were in love with each other so much, but with Denise writing the story so we see Lucy's thoughts and then Zac's thoughts, it allows us to see all the doubts they each had in themselves and each other. I appreciated how Denise kept the secret behind Lucy's memory loss hidden until much much later in the book, to build up the anticipation and speculation.

Another aspect of the book I liked, was the setting up of the third book in the series (Just a Kiss, coming out soon!) with the third brother Riley. I just love it when author's do that (subtlely, not brazenly) because it makes me wait for the next book with baited breath.

Denise Hunter is probably my favorite contemporary author. I'm always super eager to read her latest novels as soon as they come out. After finishing Falling Like Snowflakes, I was really excited to read Zac's story and it did not disappoint. It had a great message of trust and forgiveness.

I've already preordered the next book in the series, Just a Kiss, and can't wait for Riley's story!

This is the second book in the series and this is Zach and Lucy's story. Lucy comes around in the bathroom of a diner with no idea where she is and no memory of the last seven months of her life all she remembers is loving Zach Callahan, she does not remember leaving him seven months previously and being engaged to another man. With only the memories of loving him, she returns to summer harbour where he attempts to help her piece her memories together. Will this story and in the happy ever after or will he lose her all over again. Why don't you follow my example and read it to you find out? No on to the third book in the series, this is the story of Reilly and page. Enjoyed both of these books so far and can't wait for book 3

Lucy is just passing through Summer Harbor, Maine, when she sees Zac, the restaurant owner, and decides to stay. They have a lot going on in their lives, but find time to fall in love. So, Zac is heartbroken and dumbfounded when he comes back from a weekend with the guys to find Lucy has skipped town with no clue as to where she was going or why she left so suddenly.

Seven months later, Zac gets a call out of the blue. Lucy is upset to be missing their wedding, but she fell on a wet floor at a diner and hit her head. Lucy has amnesia and doesn't remember the past seven months.

Although Zac seems to resent Lucy calling him and is still hurt and mad about her desertion, he is too good a man to leave her on her own with no memory of where she now lives, where she works, or who she was getting ready to marry.

As Lucy works to regain her memory, she and Zac work together at his restaurant. Through time and interaction, Lucy gets close to him again. She doesn't remember leaving him, so she believes she is still in love with him. When she does regain her memory, she realizes she has issues she needs to work out. But before she leaves Zac this time, she leaves him a note.

Zac has to have faith Lucy truly intends to come back. He comes to understand his part in her leaving him the first time.

Overall, this is a good story that shows the power of love over fear, the power of love between a couple, and the damage past situations can leave on a person. Zac and Lucy are a great example of why couples need open and honest communication between them.

I look forward to reading the stories of the other Callahan brothers.

This book would make a wonderful movie, I can just imagine the sweet southern Georgia and distinct Mainer accents intermingling on screen. I love how Denise Hunter brought out a full range of emotions for the heroine and hero. Lucy was scared and vulnerable, spunky and sassy, and everywhere in between. Zac is an irresistible hero, risking his heart to protect the one who broke it in the first place.
The Goodbye Bride is such an engaging story, I couldn't put it down. In addition to the romance, mystery, and humor, there is a deeper message about the power our past can have over our future and God's unfailing love. I'm anxious to read the other two books in the series after seeing a glimpse of the main characters in this story.

I requested a copy of this book through NetGalley in order to read and offer an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.
