This was a very quick read but didn't captivate me nearly as much as Alone did.

I wish I could give something six stars!!

The four POVs are so distinct - I love how each one has such a unique storytelling form (my favorite is probably Teddy's scripts). The divisions of the story with the different definitions helped keep things moving. And the story itself - wow. I was just blown away. A semi-anti-capitalist message for middle grade readers, with an emphasis on the importance of truth? Flawless.

Can't wait to recommend this to my students. All of the stars.

I was very excited to read this follow up to Alone as I had so many questions left unanswered after the completion of the first book. This book set at the same time as Maddie is on her own, gives us the other story that takes place for those who have followed the evacuation orders and what life is like in one of the relocation camps. I liked that the story revolves around Ashanti, Grandin, Teddy, Harmony all who have different interests, skills and challenges to deal with.

In Alone the whole story is told in verse, but in this novel, Freeman uses scripts, storyboards, new articles and broadcasts to tell the story and investigate why they are being held and told so little.
