I wanted to love this, and some parts are really great. But overall the storyline is just so implausible. What is the rest of the country, and even the rest of the state doing while all of this is happening? Without that being explained, I as the reader, in no way, believe they’re just not aware that this is what’s happening, or that they are and are just ignoring it.

And it is a *huge* pet peeve of mine when authors use some real things – “Colorado” and then make up other things - the Eldorado River, Colorado International Airport. Why? Why?! Use real names if you’re already using a real place! When you fib like that, I think it can negate the seriousness and actual severity of the real issues you’re writing the book about - climate collapse and the water crisis become less of a real thing to worry about; the impact declines when the author has unnecessarily made it “just a fiction happening in a book of made-up places.”

Mainly, I was bummed about this one.

4.5 Great companion book to ALONE. I liked it but I still like the first more. It took me a while to get into this one only close to 60% it caught my interest, and then I couldn't put it down. I love the cast all different teens with different dreams who come together to recover their lives and control over their lives. The plot twist is great and relevant. Loved little Pax and her passion for Oz.
I listened to the audiobook, so I have to use my own words, but at one point, the author mentions how a small group of unscrupulous people can do so much damage and hurt so many.
