So ... this is not romantasy but smut. The firstmention of an orgie is within 20 pages and there nude before we hit page 70. Hot and heavy before we hit the halfway mark of the book. I lov armentrout series i have since i read her origin series for the firs time. Whn she started to dip her thoe in adult fantasy wih from blood and ash i was there for it. But this one was disapointing. Wher hawke and poppy developed a relationship while we descovered the world they live in these caracteres go from sexual incaunter to sexual encaunter whit very little worldbuilding in between. Sinds i have alwayd love Jennifers stories this was enjoyable but a little disapointing.

I absolutely loved this book. My biggest complaint is that when I picked it up I didn't know it was a series and one I have to wait for at that! I'm so excited for whenever the next book comes out because I really want to know what happens next. I love the writing style of this author I was captivated the entire book through, and I found the world and characters to be well thought out and interesting. I will definitely be reading more books by this author!

Well, this is the sexiest book I have ever read. This is my first time reading an Armentrout book, and damned if she isn't a master of building sexual tension into every scene, whether it's a spicy scene or not. It's what I wish the ACOTAR series had been.

There were some annoyances. Thorne uses very formal speech most of the time, but then starts talking about his dick in very casual, modern language, and that switch in register felt jarring. Some parts were rather infodumpy. Very little happens in the non-romance plot until the last 5 chapters or so, when suddenly everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

Warnings** this is not spicy it's filthy smut so do not pick up to read unless you're prepared for that type of story.

I haven't read any of JLA newer stuff, I read the Aplloyon one years ago and recently re read the first. My library got a copy of this, after wanting to read her newer stuff but not wanting to spend a fortune on them I picked it up.

This was not what I was expecting. It's incredibly smutty to the point where is pornographic. We can even have dinner without something smut happening.

The plot itself wasn't a unique one. It reminded me of PC Cast, there were creatures made from clay and brought to life and some creatures made me think of that. The other creatures were just new names on similar things already in other books. A normal not too attractive girl, is an orphan, is oh so interesting is obviously super special but of course she's too stupid to realise until the end pages. The man, so amazing, so gorgeous, so tall, and strong and gifted and just the thing every woman and man wants. Obviously they're going to get together. What a surprise they're mated or fated or whatever spin you put on it.
So yeah, unoriginal plot smothered in smut. I didn't mind the writing so much and there was an actual plot there unlike other super smut books so it gets points for that. I didn't hate the characters another point. It was actually an enjoyable read. I would read the next one when it's out.

There is also a whole lot of graphic violence/gore and also torture so don't read if that's a problem for you.
